Windows 7 running on an Asus ZenFone 2 is too cool not to share

It bears repeating that the neat part about being an Android user is all the tinkering you can do with your phone or tablet.

In this case, XDA Developer forum member ycavan managed to get Windows 7 running on an Asus ZenFone 2. There’s even a video showing how it works, though note that there’s no audio.

Unlike a majority of other Android phones, the Asus ZenFone 2 utilizes an Intel-based Atom processor. ycavan cited the reason for the hack was because he was curious about “running Windows at near native speeds.” It’s definitely not perfect—there is no Direct 3D support, for instance—but it works, even if the ZenFone 2’s 5.5-inch display seems a bit small for a full desktop operating system.
Why this matters: It’s always interesting to see what the enthusiast community can do with Android. I don’t personally think there’s any particular need to have Windows 7 running on such a small screen, but I don’t deny that it’s fun to do.

iOS, Android or Windows Phone. Which is Better?

Here is a look at the new spot at each of these platforms offers us. So, you get points to Compare and define which one fits your needs. So, let’s see iOS or Android or Windows phone.

iOS 8, the ‘smart’ redesign Apple

iOS is known for being a friendly and intuitive operating system, with 1.2 million apps in the App Store. The improvement from the iOS 7 is lower, but helped in improving of user experience. These are some of its advantages.

Perfect Ecosystem:

One of the highlight of the Apple family is that its ecosystem works perfectly. IPad, Mac, iPod, iPhone and Apple TV communicate with each other smoothly. iOS 8 takes this integration to a new level.

Calls from any device:

iOS 8 lets you to make and receive calls from an iPad or from a Mac. The condition is compatible with iOS 8 and are connected to the same WiFi network of the iPhone.

Share family:

iOS 8 includes a feature that allows users to share applications, songs, movies, books and podcast, among others, with other family members. Each family has an “organizer” who will add you or delete members of the group and makes the payments for the contents.

iMessage:

The iMessage messaging system only works in the Apple universe. Now integrated with other devices and allows to send voice messages.

Bulletproof:

An advantage of iOS is that it is very safe. According to Kaspersky Labs, 98 percent of malicious codes are created for Android. Less than 1 percent affects Apple platform. This reflects, in particular, for two reasons: the controls exercised by the apple app store are very rigorous and is a closed system, which hinders the creation and spread of viruses on this platform.

Lollipop, ReEngineering

Single interface:

This will be your biggest change. It is an interface called Material Design (Design Material), which is at 60 frames per second, with layers and shadows in high definition. It gives the user a feeling of operation that is never felt nor seen before. It is very fluid, natural and showy runs, looking very surprising. It will be the biggest redesign of appearance in the history of Android. It includes new customization options too.

Multitasking in tabs:

The new operating system from Google, which is in line with names related to the goodies so called as Lollipop (Columbian) code – mimics the Chrome browser to provide a display of running applications. By clicking the icon ‘recent apps’ get a deployment tabs to jump from one to another, closing, etc.

Battery:

Lollipop integrates ‘Volta Project’ say the next big thing to improve energy autonomy of mobiles. This feature helps developers to optimize energy consumption of their apps. It also includes a battery saving feature that promises to extend the duration to 90 minutes, compared to the current Android.

Pay calm to his ‘smartphone':

The function of multiple users incorporates several improvements. With the mode of ‘guest’, or by creating or profiles, it is now possible that your phone or tablet with multiple user accounts that protect data, apps and content of each.

Backup and configuration:

Copying iOS, but improved. With the new setup wizard is much easier to retrieve user information, such as Google and mobile applications when you change a new one. Take your old phone or tablet, turn on the NFC, turn on your new phone, move them closer and ready. All your settings, accounts, data, etc., from one side to another. It is very simple to transfer your data from old mobile to new one.

Windows Phone 8.1, upward

The mobile operating system from Microsoft has positioned itself as the third most used worldwide, down from Android and iOS. In Colombia it has a special user base, through the impetus of Nokia Lumia and smartphone models input, i.e., affordable prices. Some of the main strengths of Windows Phone are part of their ability to interact with other computers and Microsoft ecosystem services, such as Office, Outlook and Xbox, which adds points to the operating system. These are some of the new features:

Action Center:

One improvement that allows windows phone for better manage and control the system notifications: emails, messages, missed calls, trills, social network updates, easy and handy. Very similar to Android (unfold sliding the top of the screen down), now include access to specific functions of mobile as networking and connectivity, among others.

Best camera:

It is now possible to shoot burst style and add multiple ‘ apps’ for editing photos and videos, in addition to those already brings factory equipment. Along with Carl Zeiss optics Nokia has on their computers, Windows Phone makes it one of the best phones to take pictures and videos.

Universal applications:

From this year, developers have the ‘Universal App’ function, which allows you to create programs that run on any computer ecosystem Microsoft (Windows Phone, PC, tablets and Xbox One) , much like iOS, which means that you will see on your computer, console and mobile, the same application, no matter from which device you downloaded.

Auto Wifi:

A function that has sparked controversy, but is quite useful. You should not be looking open WiFi. Windows Phone does, and is automatically configured when ‘hears’ a network for public use, leaving the mobile connected without intervention of the person.

Windows 10 is the Last Version of Windows, Microsoft Confirmed

Windows 10 is the Last Version of Windows
Microsoft just announced in its Ignite 2015 conference in Chicago that Windows 10 is set to be "the last version of Windows."

"Right now [we are] releasing Windows 10, and because Windows 10 is the last version of Windows, [we are] all still working on Windows 10," said Microsoft's developer evangelist Jerry Nixon while speaking at the conference this week.

What exactly does it mean? Will Microsoft not launch Windows 11 next? Is Windows 10 actually the end of Microsoft’s Windows operating system?

These are some questions that were ongoing in the mind of the audience when Nixon gave this statement during his speech.

The reaction from Microsoft was really alarming though you do not have to panic, as Windows OS is not dying.

Windows 10 — Brand Name of Microsoft's OS

For the moment, Microsoft will stick with Windows 10 and focus on smaller and faster updates to its Windows 10 platform, instead of launching new stand-alone versions of the operating system every few years.

This Microsoft's new approach is something similar to Apple's OS X, the Mac operating system that gets smaller updates on a yearly basis and has been known as OS X for over 15 years. Every new release of OS X gets a unique name with some major updates, but Apple didn't change the name of its OS.

Oh! Give me a break. If I take you back when it was decided by Microsoft that its next Windows version will be Windows 10 and not Windows 9. This could be a reason that Microsoft wants to stick with Windows 10 brand name for the near future.

'Windows as a Service'

Speaking to The Verge, the company confirmed plans to improve Windows 10 through regular updates though Microsoft has no plan to roll out a new version of Windows at some point in the future.

The future, the report notes, is "Windows as a service," although the company has yet not clearly explain it.

"Recent comments at Ignite about Windows 10 are reflective of the way Windows will be delivered as a service bringing new innovations and updates in an ongoing manner, with continuous value for our consumer and business customers," Microsoft spokesperson said in a statement.

"We aren't speaking to future branding at this time," the spokesperson added, however "customers can be confident Windows 10 will remain up-to-date and power a variety of devices from PCs to phones to Surface Hub to HoloLens and Xbox. We look forward to a long future of Windows innovations."

Windows 10 to be the Microsoft's major version of OS

There is no doubt that Microsoft have spend and have to spend an enormous amount of money in marketing to convince users that this new version is what they need and that Windows 10 is better than anything that had come to them before.

So far, it is unclear whether the tech giant will keep the Windows 10 moniker forever, but if it happens Windows 10 could mark an entire new chapter for Microsoft where Windows is more of a service, however, the company still needs to really launch the Windows 10 operating system first.

How to Fast File Transfer in Windows 7/8 and XP

In Our daily PC Usage we need to copy and paste files from one computer to another computer using Local area network and using flash drives. The main problem with file transferring process is it takes a lot of time in sometimes even if you have high-end computer and perfect operating system in it.

Transferring small amount of files is easy and there is no problem with those files but if you are ready to copy some large amount of files like games, movies, songs then you definitely face this problem. Here we need to consider so many problems while transferring files because presently most of the people use USB 2.0 devices which have very less transfer rate, sending data from hard disk to flash drive is always slow because those two are not belongs to same category.
Straight to the point, here We share some useful tips and utilities to fast file transfer process in windows operating systems.

Learn-How to Fast file Transfer in Windows 7/8

First I will discuss about tools which can be used to fast file transfer on your Windows 7, 8 and 8.1. The steps are clearly elaborated below for you guys.

Teracopy

Teracopy is the best and lightweight tool to perform file transferring operations like copy and paste with an ease. Once you install this application on windows it acts like a default file copying software and transfer files very quickly. It reduces the seek time operation of hard disk by adjusting available buffers.
It won’t stuck even if you try to copy two or more files at a time and if the limit exceeds it keeps the files in queue state. Another interesting thing is you can pause and resume file copying process which is not available in windows operating systems except windows 8.
increase file copy paste speed on windows 7

Features of Teracopy

  • It provides much faster speed than windows default copy handler with 2X speed
  • You can copy more files and folders at a time without any burden on computer. That means you can perform other tasks as well as
  • While file transferring process it checks for errors and try to copy those files by checking the problem. It also calculate its CRC checksum values before skipping error files
  • You can also perform file copy/paste from the right-click menu, because it have full file explorer shell extension and also supports Unicode.

Talent Copy V

This is another powerful file copying tool which is available for free to use. This application is easily attracted by newbies because it have simple and clean interface without having any unnecessary options. It shows each and every information about files, folders which are being copied like folder objects loaded, folders created, how many files and folders are overwritten etc. It uses a small amount of system resources but works effectively while performing file copy/paste operations.

How to Use Talent Copy V

This application doesn’t change the default file copy handler that’s why we need to do these manually. First copy all files and folders which you want to paste in another device.
Now Right click on the mouse and select Paste with Talent Copy option, then it’ll automatically starts the file transferring process

Features of Talent Copy

  • You can get maximum file copy/paste speed up to 3x times more than normal windows file copying speed
  • It also works with Hard disk drive in RAID configuration without creating any problems
  • It also have pause and resume functions to stop file transfer process which was mainly missed on windows operating system
  • Windows beginners also use this tool because it have simple interface
Note: Present this is in beta version and it takes so much memory from computer to copy files. I hope this issue may resolved in next release.

Tips for fast File Transfer in Windows XP, 7, 8 and 8.1

  • While copying large number of files individually it takes a lot of time and you can’t complete the task within time because file copy/paste speed is very less when sending individual files. So, group all those files and move them into one new folder and compress that folder using WinRAR or 7-zip compressing software
  • If you use low-end computer then leaving PC alone is the best option while copying files and folders. Because more memory is necessary to complete the file transferring process.

How To Create Undeletable Unrenamable Folders in Windows

For Windows operating system, we have a lots of security tools available to protect our files and folders from unauthorized access. We can lock them in a hidden vault using software like Folder Lock, put password on folders/files using Password Folder and many powerful locker software.
These tools either hide your confidential material or lock other users’ access so that no one can even view the content but that’s not the case always! Sometimes, we want to allow them view our material but limit only their suspicious actions(such as Deleting, Renaming) that can harm the content. Available locker software don’t provide such view-only rights to your folders.
So, if you have such kind of requirement then don’t go for such folder/file locker software. There is a very simple Windows trick which will help you achieve your aim i.e., “provide only viewing rights to your content and block delete and rename actions from those folders” without using software or script at all.
I am covering the trick below. So, scroll down the image to know how to create undeletable-unrenamable folders in Windows.

Understanding the basics

Windows have some reserved words for folder names: con, aux, lpt1, lpt2, lpt3 up to lpt9. It will not allow you to create folders using any of these names. Try creating or renaming any folders with these names and Windows will throw out an error message that The specified device name is invalid (see below).

Windows Reserved Words
These keywords are used by Windows itself for some of its important Windows files and folders. If you find any file/folder with the above names in Windows directory, you can’t delete or rename them (try it!).
So, your folder name should be one of these windows reserved names to make it undeletable and unrenamable. As you can’t create it directly on Windows, a way to get such kind of folder is to search out your computer’s Windows directory, copy it somewhere and delete available content to insert your own material but this would be a tedious task. So I have covered an easy trick below to get such kind of folders.

How to create Undeletable and Unrenemable folder?

  1. Go to Start Menu and then click Run (or press Win+R) to get Run dialogue box.
  2. Type cmd and hit enter to open Command Prompt.
  3. You can’t create such folders in root drive i.e., where Windows is installed. So, if your Windows is installed in C: drive, type D: or E: in command prompt.
  4. Now, your command prompt is in D: (or E:) drive. Type md con\ command to create folder with name “con” (md=make directory).
  5. Now browse to the location (D: drive) and you’ll see a folder just created there with name con. You can use any of the windows reserved keywords  such aux, lpt1, lpt2, lpt3 up to lpt9 to create folders with these name through command prompt.
  6. Add your material to the folder.
Try deleting or renaming it, Windows will not let you perform these actions.

How to delete Undeletable/Unrenamable folder?

So, if you have done with the required task with these undeletable-unrenamable folders and want to delete them, you can’t delete them manually as Windows will not allow. So, deleting undeletable-unrenamable folders will also be done from Command prompt. Follow these steps to delete undeletable/unrenamable folders in Windows:
  1. Open command prompt
  2. Type D: or E:, the drive letter where you have created the folder.
  3. Type rd con\ command to remove the folder named con (rd=remove directory).
  4. Now, open the drive, you’ll not find the folder here as it has been deleted.

How To Create Portable Version of Any Windows Software?

Portable software versions are software packed in such a manner that it can be used normally by just clicking on software’s .exe (portable version) file. You don’t need to install the software in your system to run it if you have the software in portable version.
If you don’t want to install a  new software, as it consumes disk-space, may start running various services in background and exploiting your computer’s resources, you should download it’s portable version.
But, the problem arises is, very few software has readymade portable versions available online. So, for most of the software, you waste your time in searching their portable versions and finally end up with having its setup files to install on your PC.
Today, to help you get out of this problem I am telling you how to create portable version of every Windows software.
Isn’t it cool? You can put all software packed in portable version, uninstall their normal version to free up disk-space, registry space, stop software-specific processes and background services to make your PC fast. And when you’ll require to run them, you can do so by just clicking the portable version of software.

How To Create Portable Software?

To create portable version of software, we are going to use a software called VMware ThinApp.
VMware ThinApp is especially created to serve easy program virtualization. It lets you to create portable versions of normal software for faster application deployment and east application migration.
ThinApp Home Screen Big
The software is capable for to create portable versions of not only application software such as web browsers (Mozilla firefox, chrome, internet explorer), MS-Office, Adobe Readers, Photoshop, Skype etc. but also various system-utility and system-supporting software such as Java. .NET, Tune-Up utilities and many more.

How To Use VMware ThinApp To Create Portable Software?

Step 1: Download VMware ThinApp (follow this link) and install it on your PC first.
Step 2: Now, navigate to Start menu. Choose VMWARE from “All Programs” and select “ThinApp Setup Capture” shortcut.
ThinApp Step 2
Step 3: Now, ThinApp Setup Capture window appears to guide you in the process of creating virtualized (portable) application. When the window appears, click “Next”.
Step 4: Close all the applications that might affect software virtualization process. I recommend you to close all the applications your are running, except VMware ThinApp to avoid unexpected interrupts and boosting performance of virtualization process. Click Next.
thinapp step 3
Step 5: VMware ThinApp will now scan for the required files. It may take some time. Do not touch anything while the process is going on. It will let you know automatically when done.
thinapp step 5
Step 6: When finished, minimize the ThinApp window as indicated in the screen.
thinapp step 6
Step 7: Now, install any software for which you want to create portable software. After installation, validate the software by entering key/serial number (if it requires one). Configure your installed software fully and run it once.
Tune Up 2014

Step 8: When you have done with installing the targeted application, maximize the ThinApp window and click on Next to rescan your system again.
VMware ThinApp will now show you all the installed application of your system of which you can create portable versions. Just choose any one of them.
Rescanning
Step 9: Click on Next and choose where to create portable version of the selected software.
Select Software
Step 10: Click ‘Next’. Choose location and then again click “Next”. Here, click Merged isolation mode and click Next.
Step 13
Step 11: At this screen, under Compression section, click Fast compression and then click on Next.
Step 11
Step 12: Now, the process of collecting data to create portable version of selected software starts. VMware ThinApp will now create project that includes putting all needed files in one folder, registry values, etc.
Step 12
When it have finishes its task, click “Build Now” button.
step 12-1
Step 13: Once the software has done with creating portable version of selected software, click on Browse project and then Finish button.
step 12-2
Step 14: Clicking on Browsing projects will indicate you to folder (BIN) especially build for your portable software. Browse the BIN folder and you’ll find your selected software’s portable version here.
backup
Now, you can copy it anywhere, and run the software directly from this portable version of software. No need to install.

Any good alternative?

Well, VMware ThinApp is already very easy to use for creating software. Incase, if you can’t use it or facing errors while using the software, you can use another similar software Cameyo.
