WhatsApp May Soon Get 'Like' and 'Mark as Unread' Features In The Upcoming Update.

WhatsApp might soon get its own 'Like' button similar to Facebook alongside a 'mark as unread' feature for chats, hints some new reports on the Internet.

A WhatsApp beta tester named Ilhan Pektas recently tweeted (via AndroidPit) about the 'Like' button feature coming to WhatsApp. The tweet in German said (translated), "Like Button for divided images in WhatsApp."

While the tweet indicated that the 'Like' feature might be used for images, it is still not clear how the feature will be implemented in general conversation.

The 'mark as unread' feature was spotted by ADSLZone which obtained some WhatsApp documents that hinted the functionality was still in testing. The documents spotted included two forms for Mark as Read and Mark as Unread.

It will be interesting to see how the 'mark as unread' feature will be integrated into the WhatsApp conversation considering that the Read Receipts feature already exists which will notify the sender once the receiver reads the messages.

If this comes out to be true, the Facebook's 'Like' button, which is a highlight feature of the social platform, will be a brand new addition to the most widely used instant messaging service worldwide while the 'mark as unread' feature would also come handy similarly as seen in mail services.

To recall, WhatsApp already became the most widely used instant messaging app and back in April crossed 800 million monthly active users.

Whatsapp Banned Users For Using WhatsApp PLUS App

Are you one of those victims whose WhatsApp app has recently been banned?? Then you must have installed a 3rd-party version of WhatsApp client, like WhatsAppMD or Whatsapp PLUS in your mobile phone for sure.

Reportedly after 12 AM IST on 21st January 2015, WhatsApp, the widely popular messaging application, has started temporarily banning users for 24 Hours who are currently using any third-party WhatsApp clients and are being directed to download the official app on the Play Store instead.

Just in last few hours, large number of users have started complaining on Social media websites that they are being banned from the messaging service for 24 hours. Though the ban is temporary and the users facing the issue now could access their app after the period of 24 hours.

In an attempt to clear up why this is happening, Whatsapp team explained via its FAQ website, that it is against ‘Terms of Service’ to use WhatsApp Plus or any other 3rd-party unofficial app.

Why am I banned for using WhatsApp Plus and how do I get unbanned?

WhatsApp Plus is an application that was not developed by WhatsApp, nor is it authorized by WhatsApp. The developers of WhatsApp Plus have no relationship to WhatsApp, and we do not support WhatsApp Plus. Please be aware that WhatsApp Plus contains source code which WhatsApp cannot guarantee as safe and that your private information is potentially being passed to 3rd parties without your knowledge or authorization. Please uninstall your application and install an authorized version of WhatsApp from our website or Google Play. Then, you will be able to use WhatsApp.

Beware! Fake WhatsApp PLUS App Rumored to be Next Official WhatsApp Release

Several reports from the popular news websites had suggested that WhatsApp, the widely popular messaging application, is working on a new version of its instant messaging client, called WhatsApp PLUS, in order to provide its users a lot of handy new features. However the news seems to be completely fake!!

WhatsApp Plus has already been launched a long ago and is not at all genuine as it is not associated with the Facebook-owned WhatsApp. Many users claimed to have already used WhatsApp Plus before.

The latest news reports insist that WhatsApp Plus will bring 700 new themes and more number of emoticons, as well as will provide users with an option to change the font, and color among other things in an attempt to make the app look and feel more personalized. Moreover, the app will provide better privacy compared to the existing one. But, here you need to have a second thought.

If we talk about better privacy, the only genuine report about WhatsApp came late last year, when WhatsApp partnered with Open Whisper Systems, a collaborative open source project to offer end-to-end encryption in its Android client. But, that was also with the same label, WhatsApp.

The domain of WhatsApp Plus wasn't registered by WhatsApp, Inc, according to the Whois information of the alleged Whatsapp website. In order to find links to shady websites, BGR reports that they decompiled the WhatsApp Plus APK file circulating around the web, which revealed that the "app is communicating with illegitimate sources."

Beware those who find the app genuine and interesting to download. There are many fake and malicious messaging apps that trick users to download and install, what could potentially be a malware. WhatsApp Plus is also not a genuine, but an effort by unauthorised websites to trick people into downloading it.

We will strongly advise people to not download WhatsApp Plus, or any app that claims to be a new rather different version of WhatsApp. It has been confirmed that WhatsApp hasn’t launched any such app. The app could be a malware that can trouble your phone and downloading an alternative, would be laying your privacy and security at risk.
